Ingredients of Soft Mandazi
- You need 2 1/2 cups of all-purpose wheat Flour.
- You need 1 1/2 tbsp of baking powder.
- You need 1 of egg.
- Prepare of Small packet of milk.
- Prepare 4 tbsp of sugar.
- Prepare 1 tsp of iliki/ Cardamom.
- It's 1 tbsp of margarine.
- Prepare of Lemon zest.
Soft Mandazi step by step
- Mix the flour, baking powder, Cardamom, Margarine, lemon zest and sugar in a suitable bowl..
- In a separate bowl whisk the egg into the milk..
- Make a well at the centre of the flour and add the milk and egg mixture and slowly mix to form a dough..
- Put the dough in a nylon paper and cover well, then allow to rest for 30 minutes up to 1hour..(the longer it rests the softer it gets).
- Roll the dough on into a 1cm thick piece..
- Using a sharp knife, cut the dough into the desired size setting aside ready for deep frying..
- Serve them warm or cold.
